SCoop link snafu

Last week, I posted a link to this site:

https://mail.npserv.org/service/home/~/senior%20bullyimg_20130524081203.pdf?auth=co&loc=en_US&id=5933&part=2

Did you try to open it?

Did something goofy pop up?

Something goofy should have popped up. This happened to a couple of folks who tried to open the link, so, I asked Justin Lunning at NpServ what was going on. Essentially, I was told that we can’t link to items that are in our mailbox. If you want to post something to SCoop, you need to save it as a PDF file and upload it using the regular channels.

Below you’ll find Justin’s exact response:

That link is to an item in your Zimbra mailbox.  You cannot link to items in
your Zimbra mailbox, because only you have access to your own mailbox.  Other
people would need your Zimbra username/password to view.  Furthermore, the link
has a “~” in it which is a common shortcut to your own account.  The link will
not translate to other people because when someone else clicks on it, it will
try to go to their own Zimbra mailbox.

You’ll need to upload the PDF
file to WordPress, get the link to it from there, and put that link in the
newsletter.  That link will be to a central public location that everyone will
be able to access.

If you have any questions about converting an item to a PDF, please ask Alexa, Matt, or myself.

Thanks!

WSU Law Professor Speaker

Hello Everyone,

WSU Law Professor Susan Cancelosi just did a presentation on important elder law topics, from financial to medical matters. It was a great presentation. At the end of the presentation, Professor Cancelosi asked me to pass her information around to other SCs because she enjoys presenting elder law to older adults. Professor Cancelosi teaches, but does not practice law in Michigan. She is licensed in Texas and Ohio.

Professor Cancelosi can be reach at 313-577-9352 or via e-mail at scancelosi@wayne.edu.
