How to Add Minutes or “Top-Up” your Account

Top-Up is how you add money to your AssuranceWireless account. You can Top-Up your Assurance Wireless account right from your phone. Note: You cannot register a debit or credit card from your phone; you must register it online first. After you have the card registered, when your balance is low, you can Top-Up your Assurance Wireless account from your phone.

Intro to Hoarding

Here’s a good introduction on hoarding for the practitioner! This is a big file, but Deb Stanley is a terrific resource. She was a large part of the Detroit Hoarding and Cluttering Taskforce prior to moving out of state.

More information on hoarding

BU is a terrific resource for older adults who have a tendency to clutter or hoard. Here are some documents we have used with the Detroit Hoarding and Cluttering Taskforce, along with visual scales that are sometimes useful for working with members on “harm reduction”, which isn’t striving for perfection (no Martha Stuart), but is striving for safety and health. You can help people move down the clutter image scale…

Save or Shred?

A group of WSU students hosted a “Save or Shred” event here at Hannan a couple years ago. The intent was to help seniors determine which documents they could get rid of when organizing their paperwork and then shred them in a safe manner. I have the “how to” manual to lend to anyone interested in working with the co-op to hold a similar event. Below is an easy cheat sheet for helping members figure out which of their items can be disposed of. Members are welcome to bring their files to your office for assistance with organizing and purging. You should, however, let the member be the person who actually inserts their document in the shredder. This is important for two reasons. First, it places the responsibility on the member for choosing to destroy the document. Second, it gives them the satisfaction of shredding the document! Small pleasures in life include shredding…..
