Healthier Black Elders Celebration

Detroit’s annual celebration of healthy aging on June 11th is filled with fun lessons about staying healthy. This event is co-hosted by the Wayne State’s Institute of Gerontology and University of Michigan’s Program for Research on Black Americans.

This free public event promotes exercise, nutrition, health screenings and preventative exams to help African Americans resist the most common diseases of aging. Speakers discuss current research on aging and provide inspirational messages to motivate everyone to improve their health habits.

The Judith J. Wahlberg Memorial Lecture is a professional training partnership between the Area Agency on Aging 1-B and Wayne State University Institute of Gerontology. The lecture is dedicated to enhancing professional development opportunities for those concerned about services and programs for older adults who are aging in the community. It is a 3CE Conference for Aging Network Professionals.

You can register to earn CEUs online when you register to attend the lecture. CEU Certificates will be issued after total completion of program. Evaluation, sign in and sign out are required.
Registration Info: Cost: Individual Registration: $45 per person. Group Registration: A group discount rate of $40 per person is available for three or more people registering from the same agency or organization. Student Rate: $20 per student

WSU IOG Winter Colloquium

Hello All:

Apologies to everyone on recent cancellations/substitutions of IOG Colloquium speakers.

We’ve been a bit unlucky this semester with unexpected and last minute conflicts…we will try try to re-schedule the 2 speakers who have cancelled in Fall 2013.

But I think good to go now… NEW SCHEDULE ATTACHED.
