Detroit’s annual celebration of healthy aging on June 11th is filled with fun lessons about staying healthy. This event is co-hosted by the Wayne State’s Institute of Gerontology and University of Michigan’s Program for Research on Black Americans.
This free public event promotes exercise, nutrition, health screenings and preventative exams to help African Americans resist the most common diseases of aging. Speakers discuss current research on aging and provide inspirational messages to motivate everyone to improve their health habits.
The Healthier Black Elders Celebration is open to all seniors age 55 years and older. Please contact Donna MacDonald at (313) 664-2605 or donnamacdonald@wayne.edu with questions.
