Ideas for Health Assessments

Hey everyone!

Henry Ford Health System has a community outreach person who is responsible for doing things like scheduling blood pressure screenings. I recently got in touch with the outreach person for Henry Ford Wyandotte, Melanie Elliott. I asked if she could help me with scheduling screenings other than blood pressure here at Flat Rock Towers. I explained to Elliott that screenings that involve puncturing skin or ingesting things are not permitted on site. Since that conversation, Elliott scheduled a therapist to come out to do grip assessments. Grip assessments tie in to balance assessments in that it tests the patient’s ability to do things like grip shower bars.

The flyer that I made for this event is attached:

Blood Pressure

So, these are just some ideas as to how to meet those assessment criteria on the logic model. What types of things has everyone else done in their co-ops?

CSI Procedures for Flyers and Handouts

Hi All,

Sheila and the Liaisons discussed SC flyers and educational workshop handouts at their last meeting. Here are some good suggestions/procedures they have come up with to address some of their concerns:

– Flyers should be proofed by your Liaison, Sheila and Rachel prior to posting in the co-op. You can do this by sharing them via email. This needs to happen in advance of every posting.

– Educational Workshop handouts should be proofread (by your fellow SC, Rachel or trusted co-presenter), source material cited, and printed in 14-point or greater font. Materials should be shared with your co-op leadership team in advance of your monthly meeting so that you can then discuss their congruence with co-op policies (house rules in particular).  Please request workshop materials from your presenter in advance.

Thanks so much,

Rachel

CSI’s position on League of Women’s Voters and other non-partisan policital organizations

Some of the CSI SCs have been asked by members in leadership positions to have an educational session regarding upcoming ballot measures. Please see CSI’s response:

According to the cooperative principles and Cindy Lamb, CSI Corporate Controller and Fair Housing  expert , The League of Women’s Voters may not make presentations at any of our co-ops. Please have service coordinators refrain from scheduling any groups associated with politics even when they are going to provide refreshments or other incentives that might seem nice for the members.

FYI- The same would hold true for religious groups.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
