Google translate and other online translation sites can assist in communicating with members who speak limited English. If a member has access to a computer, they can use the site to type in a question in their native language, translate it to English then copy and paste it into an e-mail. Your reply can then be translated back into another language. This seems to have great promise in places like Madison Heights Co-op, where there are a large number of highly educated members with limited English.

From the University of Michigan Depression Center Newsletter, Summer 2012:
Sticking with a treatment plan for depression or bipolar disorder can be extraordinarily difficult. This issue of UPDATE explores the idea of “treatment adherence,” which is roughly defined as following the course of treatment that your health care provider has established with you, whether that treatment involves medication, therapy, lifestyle changes, managing co-occurring conditions, or combinations of these. We discuss why adherence is so important for reaching and maintaining wellness, and offer some strategies for overcoming barriers that may stand in your way.
The legal organization that assists with DHS application issues is the Center for Civil Justice. I just found out they only open cases for food benefits in Wayne County and work with Medicaid cases only in Genessee County. However, one of their assistants told me that even though they can’t open a case for you, they can answer any questions you have and advises you to call.
