Anne Sackrison confirmed that having a Professor from WSU conduct a workshop that included an optional referral to a University-sponsored study is not solicitation. Dr. Goldberg and his students have provided numerous fall prevention activities at the Hannan Center for Senior Learning over the years, and we also feel comfortable with him and his workshops.
Maryanette’s Liaison had posed this question to Anne after Maryanette shared the workshop idea and potential concern with him:
“The service coordinators from Wyandotte are planning the September education meeting. They have asked Dr. Allan Goldberg to speak from Wayne State University school of gerontology about fall prevention. He asked if it would be OK to mention a study that they are currently doing on seniors, which would pay them to participate if they were interested.
I think it would be fine since its through Wayne State. I just wanted to get your opinion on it.
