In order to effectively treat military veterans, it is imperative to have a deep understanding of the culture and traditions, where and when they served, and to learn about their impression of their experience. It is also important to have an understanding of effective interventions and how and where to locate the appropriate resources and services for your military clients.
About the presenters:
Peggy O’Hare Vance, BHSE, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Hospice Education from Madonna University. O’Hare joined Hospice of Michigan in 2004 as a development manager in the organization’s fundraising department, and later joined the marketing team as a representative for the Oakland County area. O’Hare works closely with the organizations’ 11 marketing representatives, located across the state, to educate, promote and create awareness for Hospice of Michigan’s services with hospitals, physician’s offices, and skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. O’Hare Vance has been a key speaker at several state-wide conferences and serves on the “We Honor Veterans” committee at Hospice of Michigan.
Lin Fox, LMSW, has worked as a social worker at the Ann Arbor VA Hospital, and is now with the Hospice of Michigan.
