Fair Food Network Hosts Detroit Telephone Town Hall on Healthy Food Access – Aug. 8

With the expansion of the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program into grocery stores, Fair Food Network is hosting its second telephone town hall for Detroit residents to discuss affordable, healthy food options using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Last December, more than 7,500 Detroiters participated in the first telephone town hall.

Join the conversation:
Thursday, August 8, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. ET

Panelists:

  • Oran Hesterman, president and CEO, Fair Food Network, and originator of Double Up Food Bucks
  • Auday Arabo, president, AFPD (a national trade association of retailers)
  • Fiona Ruddy, alternative food program coordinator, Detroit Eastern Market
  • Hosted by Vickie Thomas, WWJ/CBS Radio

How it works: Detroiters with landline telephones within 1.5 miles of the three participating DUFB grocery stores – Honey Bee Market, Metro Foodland, and Mike’s Fresh Market at Gratiot –  will receive an automated invitation call. Callers from Detroit will be invited to participate in poll surveys using their touchtone phones and submit questions to the panelists.
