More information on hoarding

BU is a terrific resource for older adults who have a tendency to clutter or hoard. Here are some documents we have used with the Detroit Hoarding and Cluttering Taskforce, along with visual scales that are sometimes useful for working with members on “harm reduction”, which isn’t striving for perfection (no Martha Stuart), but is striving for safety and health. You can help people move down the clutter image scale…

Hear Now & Better Hearing

Hear Now provides hearing aids for those with limited incomes and recycles hearing aids. Contact www.starkeyhearingfoundation.org or call 800-328-8602 and ask for Hear Now. Here’s the Hear Now application.

Other groups providing financial assistance for hearing aids are listed on the Better Hearing Institute web site and the AAA’s provide funding for some hearing services and are a good place to start!

MI Bridges Benefit Applications Client Handout

Here’s a document to members with the MI Bridges Application. This form allows them to write down and organize their user id, password, secret question/answers and tracking number. Karen and I received this info. in a MI Bridges training session so I wasn’t sure if you all had it or not. I used it this morning and it helped immensely 🙂

CSI Rally Picnic: Membership required

From Sharon at CSI:

I just received an email from Rachel at Hannan Foundation letting me know that one of our co-ops invited the service coordinator to attend the Rally Picnic.

The Rally Picnic is only for members or non-housing members that have purchased the $100 membership. I did invite the service coordinators to pay the $100 and become a member. Also, if a SC does become a non-housing member and attends the Rally Picnic and/or the Annual meeting he or she will not be paid by the co-op (thru Hannan)while attending the event.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
